Kik is a free instant messaging application with over 160 million downloads available on Windows Phone, iOS, and Android devices. It’s prompt registration process and easy to use interface has been able to grab over 90 million users for itself. It is used to exchange text and voice messages, including drawings, pictures, and other content. Such messaging between contacts takes place between users through a kik username rather then a phone number. The app has an extremely basic and pure interface. However, permanently deleting the account cannot be done from the application itself. So, here is a step by step guide on how to deactivate kik:
1. Visit The Link: Start off by visiting the official deactivating link- ws.kik.com/deactivate. You can also visit the deactivation page from the official kik help website. Remember, deactivating your kik account implies- you will be permanently deleted from the contact list of people you have had conversation with, you will not receive kik emails, or messages, and your username will not be searchable anywhere.
2. Enter Your Email Address: Fill in your email id into the text box on your account deactivation page. This is the address you filled in when you first created your account. Next, click the “Go” button, in order to proceed. However, if you have forgotten your email id, you can find it by opening the application, pressing the gear icon in the right corner, and then pressing the “Your Account” button. You will see your username, email, and name on this screen.
3. Confirm Your Email: Once you receive an email in your account, open this id, and click the confirmation link at the extreme bottom of the page under “want to deactivate account?” As soon as you tap on this, it will deactivate your account. However, you may not get this email instantly, and it may take several minutes to reach you. In addition to this, your deactivation email may feature messages from your contact at kik, in an effort to get you to stay on it. So if you really want to deactivate your account, simply ignore these emails, scroll to the bottom of the page, and click the deactivation link.
4. Delete Your History At Kik: It is extremely indispensable to keep in mind that deactivating your account won’t necessarily delete all your message history. However, this can easily be done with the application itself. So before deactivating your account, open your app on your device, go to settings menu, click the icon on the right of your screen that looks like a cog or gear, and tap the “your account” option. After this, finally tap the “reset kik messenger” at the bottom of this screen. In the confirmation pop up menu, click the “yes” button. This in turn will delete the entire history associated with your kik account. After this you can easily proceed with all the deactivation steps as mentioned above.
So, if you are not too much into using your kik account as your daily social messenger, you can simply follow this step by step guide and delete it.
